Dermatology
Dermatology is a branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases of the skin and hair. It covers both acute and chronic conditions, as well as aesthetic and functional skin issues at different stages of life.
A dermatologist evaluates the patient’s concerns and the condition of the skin, performs the necessary examinations (including dermatoscopy), and develops an individual treatment and skincare plan.
At the clinic, dermatologist consultations are available for the following issues:
-
Acne – diagnosis and treatment of acne in adolescents and adults;
-
Eczema and dermatitis – atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis;
-
Psoriasis – management and treatment of this chronic inflammatory skin disease;
-
Skin infections – bacterial, viral (e.g., herpes), and fungal infections;
-
Skin lesions – moles, papillomas, keratoses, their evaluation and removal;
-
Skin tumors – diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant lesions;
-
Hair loss (alopecia) – diagnosis of causes and treatment options;
-
Nail diseases – nail fungus, deformities, inflammations;
-
Sexually transmitted diseases;
-
Allergic skin reactions and rashes;
-
Chronic itching, skin dryness, and sensitivity.
Dermatology is important not only for the treatment of skin diseases but also for prevention and early diagnosis, especially in relation to skin tumors. Regular check-ups and timely consultations with a dermatologist help prevent complications, improve skin health, and maintain long-term quality of life.
At Piramīda Clinic, dermatology consultations are provided by dermatologists Santa Ivanova, Ivanna Buvan, Elīna Krauce-Ozola, and Daina Skuja-Semjonova.
